I cannibalized an old chair of some pleather to make the chafing protector. The problem was that I couldn't tighten the thread as tight as I wanted to, so it is pretty loosely threaded.
It'll work for now while I test it out. I can always re-do the chafing protection later?

This weekend I will sew Spinnaker #2.
Then I'll sew two spinnakers for my H16, one that'll attach to the existing tang, another to the top of the mast.
